JSON to CSV Converter

Convert JSON records to CSV or CSV rows to JSON with a table preview. Your input stays in your browser.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • Text stays in your browser
  • Local processing / no upload

Limit: 500,000 character units per input. Oversized pastes are rejected. Drafts stay in this page and are not saved.

Tool options

CSV to JSON keeps every cell as a string. Spreadsheet protection adds an apostrophe to formula-like CSV cells and headers, including negative numbers.

Step by step

How to use JSON to CSV Converter

  1. Step 1: Choose JSON to CSV or CSV to JSON. Paste an array of objects for JSON, or a header row followed by consistently sized CSV rows.

  2. Step 2: Choose the delimiter. Keep spreadsheet protection enabled for untrusted JSON data, then select Convert data. Nested JSON stays inside CSV cells.

  3. Step 3: Inspect the table and download the complete output. CSV import keeps all values as strings; large IDs should be imported into spreadsheets as text.

Example to try

Load example and convert JSON to CSV. Headers are name, id and tags. Ada retains ID 9007199254740993, and her tags array is quoted inside one cell; Grace has an empty tags cell.

Convert records without flattening nested data

JSON to CSV accepts an array of objects. Columns follow property names in first-seen source order across the records. Missing properties become empty cells, while an explicit null becomes the text null. Nested objects and arrays remain compact JSON text inside a cell rather than expanding into extra columns. Numeric literals are read from source tokens to avoid rounding large integer IDs.

Import CSV with predictable string values

CSV to JSON requires one header row with unique, non-empty names and the same number of cells in each data row. Comma is the default delimiter; semicolon and tab are also available. Quoted separators, escaped quotes and quoted newlines are parsed by a CSV library. Every imported value remains a string, including numbers, leading zeros and nested-looking JSON text. JSON types are not restored automatically during a return conversion.

Output limits and local processing

The preview shows up to 50 rows and 20 columns, while copied and downloaded output contains all converted records. Protection is applied to generated CSV cells and headers beginning with formula-triggering characters. Retain the original data when this prefixing changes values you need exactly. Conversions are limited to 250,000 generated CSV cells. The converter does not fetch remote files, infer schemas or execute spreadsheet formulas.

Inputs and results are held only in this page's memory. Developer inputs accept up to 500,000 character units each. Oversized pastes are rejected while preserving the previous input. Generated output is limited to 5,000,000 character units. No sign-up is needed. Copy and download actions are explicit; the tool does not upload your drafts or save them for a later visit.

Frequently asked questions

Are nested objects flattened?
No. Nested values are kept as compact JSON inside CSV cells. CSV import does not automatically parse them back into objects.
Why do some cells start with an apostrophe?
Spreadsheet protection prefixes formula-like cells and headers, including negative numbers. It is enabled by default and can be disabled for trusted data.
Are large IDs preserved?
JSON numeric literals are serialized directly into CSV text. Spreadsheet software can still round an ID when opening the CSV; import the column as text.
Why is my CSV rejected?
Check for duplicate or empty headers, inconsistent row widths, unmatched quotes and the selected delimiter. The tool reports the first detected problem.
