What do you need to do today?
Start from the job, not the file format. Each task links to the tool that does it, and to a guide when you want the details.
Get a photo under 100 KB for a form
Make it smaller in pixels first, then lower the quality. Most upload forms need no more than 800 to 1200 pixels across.
Turn phone photos of papers into one PDF
Scan to PDF puts each photo on its own page and can clean up the background so pages look like paper, not a desk.
Shrink a PDF so you can email it
Large PDFs are almost always large because of photos and scans. Compressing those, not the text, is what saves space.
Send only some pages of a PDF
Split by page ranges such as 1-5, 6-10, or pick the exact pages you want from thumbnails with Extract PDF pages.
Sign a PDF without printing it
Draw your signature or type your name, then place it on the page. It adds a picture of your signature, not a certificate.
Hide private details before sharing
A black box drawn in a PDF viewer can leave the text underneath. Redact PDF rebuilds the covered page so it is really gone.
Fill out a PDF form online
If the PDF has fill-in fields, type straight into them and save. For a scanned form with no fields, type over it with Edit PDF.
Rearrange the pages of a PDF
Drag pages into a new order, turn the sideways ones and remove blanks, all on one screen with page previews.
Open or upload a WebP image
Some older apps and upload forms refuse WebP. Converting to JPG or PNG makes the picture work everywhere.
Make images load faster on a website
Resize to the widest size your page shows, then compress. Resizing usually saves more than the quality setting.
No learning curve
Three steps. One less thing to do.
File tools, text editors and developer utilities share a simple pattern: input, options and a result you can review.
- 1
Choose your input
Choose a file, paste text, or select generation settings, depending on the tool.
Files and pasted text are processed on your device.
- 2
Make it yours
Choose the format, comparison rules, cleanup actions or other options for your task.
Sensible defaults are already set, so you can skip this.
- 3
Ready. Set. Download.
Review the result, then copy it or download it when the tool offers a file.
Read any warnings and limits before using your result.
How we work
Simple tools, built carefully.
Converting a file should be quick, private and predictable. These are the rules every tool and guide on the site follows.
Your device does the work
Each tool runs inside your browser tab. Open-source software such as MozJPEG, OxiPNG and libwebp for images, and pdf.js and pdf-lib for PDFs, is loaded into the page and processes your file on your own phone or computer. Nothing is uploaded, so there is nothing for us to store or delete.
Results we can measure
File conversion results show measured sizes, and compression tools show the size before and after. When a file cannot be made smaller, you get your original back with a note, not a larger file. Results are checked before download; a compressed PDF, for example, must still contain every page.
Guides tested with our tools
Our guides are written by the FileConvertify Team and tested step by step with our own tools on public-domain sample files. Each one says how and when we measured, and we update the date only when the content really changes.
Free, without catches
No account is needed and the tools are free. We plan to support the site through advertising. Tool inputs are not sent to our servers. More about us on the About page.
Why in the browser
How this differs from upload-based converters
Most online converters upload your file to their servers. Ours work on your device instead. That has clear benefits and a few honest limits.
| Topic | Typical upload-based converter | FileConvertify (in your browser) |
|---|---|---|
| Where your file goes | Sent to the service's server, processed there, then downloaded again. | Stays on your device. It is read and converted inside the browser tab. |
| Waiting time | Upload and download time grows with the file and your connection. | No upload or download of your file; speed depends on your device. |
| Deleting your file | You rely on the service to delete it later, as its policy promises. | Nothing to delete: closing or reloading the page clears it. |
| Daily limits | Free plans often allow only a few conversions or files a day, then ask you to sign up or pay. | No daily limit and no account: use any tool as often as you need. |
| Very large files | Handled on powerful servers, often behind a paid plan. | Limited by your device's memory; phones can struggle with huge files. |
| Heavy conversions | Can offer Word, Excel and text recognition (OCR) on the server. | Not offered yet: we only list tools that work fully in the browser. |
