Step by step

How to convert WebP to JPG

  1. Step 1: Drop a WebP image on the box above, or select Choose file.

  2. Step 2: Keep JPG quality at 85, or move the slider for more detail or a smaller file.

  3. Step 3: Select Convert to JPG, then Download JPG to save it.

The most compatible format for photos

WebP images saved from websites do not open in every photo viewer, office program or upload form. JPG is accepted almost everywhere, from email attachments to print shops, which makes it the simplest fix when a WebP file is refused.

For logos or graphics with sharp edges or transparency, WebP to PNG is usually the better conversion.

Transparent areas become white

JPG cannot store transparency. Any transparent or partly transparent pixel in the WebP is placed on a white background before conversion, which looks natural on documents and most web pages.

Animated WebP files are not converted; you will see a message instead of a JPG that shows only one frame.

Size and quality

A JPG is often somewhat larger than the WebP it came from, because WebP compresses more efficiently. The default quality of 85 keeps photos looking as they did; lower values give smaller files with more visible compression.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I open my WebP file?
WebP is newer than JPG, and some programs and websites still do not support it. Converting to JPG gives you a file that nearly every device and service accepts.
What happens to a transparent background?
It becomes white, because JPG has no transparency. If you need to keep it transparent, convert to PNG instead.
Will the JPG be larger than the WebP?
Often, yes. WebP stores images more efficiently, so the same picture usually needs more bytes as a JPG. The result screen shows both sizes.
Can I convert an animated WebP to JPG?
No. A JPG holds a single image, so animated WebP files are rejected with a clear message rather than flattened to one frame.
Is my file kept private?
Yes. The conversion runs in your browser tab, and the file is not uploaded or stored.
