Step by step
How to use Line Sorter
Step 1: Paste one item per line. Choose Alphabetical, Numeric-aware or Reverse input; optionally remove exact duplicate lines.
Step 2: Choose ascending or descending for a sort mode, then select Sort lines. Reverse input reverses the source sequence and ignores that order control.
Step 3: Check blank lines, capitalization and numeric labels before copying or downloading the list.
Example to try
Load example and choose Numeric-aware with duplicate removal. The output lines are item 1, item 2 and item 10, in that order.
Choose alphabetical or numeric-aware sorting
Alphabetical mode uses an English locale-aware comparison. Numeric-aware mode compares digit sequences by their numeric value, so item 2 comes before item 10. Ascending and descending control the direction for those two modes. Sorting is stable for lines that compare equally. The tool sorts complete lines; it does not extract a particular CSV column or rearrange words within a line.
Reverse order and remove exact duplicates
Reverse input changes the sequence of the original lines without alphabetically sorting them; the Ascending or Descending control is ignored in this mode. Duplicate removal is optional and uses exact text, preserving the first occurrence before sorting or reversing. Capitalization, spaces and tabs therefore matter for deduplication. Use Text Cleaner first if unwanted whitespace is creating near-duplicate lines.
Output limits and local processing
Windows and old-style carriage-return newlines become a single newline style in the result. A trailing newline can create an empty line entry, which may move during sorting. Numeric-aware comparison is designed for mixed labels such as version 2, not for accounting calculations or a strict mathematical sort of localized decimal numbers. Review signed and decimal values before relying on their order.
Inputs and results are held only in this page's memory. Text inputs accept up to 100,000 character units each. Oversized pastes are rejected while preserving the previous input. Generated output is limited to 5,000,000 character units. No sign-up is needed. Copy and download actions are explicit; the tool does not upload your drafts or save them for a later visit.
