Limit: 100,000 character units per input. Oversized pastes are rejected. Drafts stay in this page and are not saved.
Step by step
How to use Text Compare
Step 1: Paste the original draft into First input and the revision into Second input. Load example to compare two short drafts.
Step 2: Choose whether to ignore case or whitespace, then select Compare text. Read removed words on the left and additions on the right.
Step 3: Review changed rows and any preview limit notice. Download the report or copy it; neither source draft is overwritten.
Example to try
Load example: world changes to reader, and first changes to final. Both rows are reported as changed while the original drafts remain visible.
Read a revision side by side
Paste the earlier draft on the left and the revised draft on the right. Unchanged lines stay aligned. Removed words are marked in the first column and added words in the second column, so you can review a changed sentence without hunting through the whole document. This is a text comparison, not a semantic assessment of whether two claims mean the same thing.
Choose what counts as a difference
Ignore case treats uppercase and lowercase letters as equivalent when aligning lines. Ignore whitespace removes whitespace from that alignment comparison, including spaces inside a line. The original writing stays visible in both columns. Changed-word highlighting uses the original text, so a changed line may also highlight differences you chose to ignore for alignment. Windows and Unix line endings are normalized before comparison.
Output limits and local processing
Each input can contain up to 5,000 lines within the text limit. A twenty-second worker timeout protects the page from difficult comparisons. Only the first 1,000 aligned rows are displayed or included in the report; a notice appears when the report is shortened. A row can contain a changed sentence, an addition or a removal, so the changed-row count is not a count of individual edited words.
Inputs and results are held only in this page's memory. Text inputs accept up to 100,000 character units each. Oversized pastes are rejected while preserving the previous input. Generated output is limited to 5,000,000 character units. No sign-up is needed. Copy and download actions are explicit; the tool does not upload your drafts or save them for a later visit.
