Step by step
How to edit PDF metadata
Step 1: Drop a PDF on the box above, or select Choose file. Its current details appear.
Step 2: Change the title, author, subject or keywords, or choose Remove all document information.
Step 3: Select Save PDF, then Download PDF.
What is stored in a PDF
Every PDF can carry document information: a title, an author, a subject, keywords, the program that created it, the program that made the PDF and the dates it was created and last changed. PDF readers show the title in their title bar, search tools read the keywords, and anyone who opens Document Properties can read the rest.
That is useful for organising files, and sometimes a surprise: a file exported from a work document may still name its author or the original file's title. Check it before you share.
Editing and removing
Change any of the four details and save; leave a box empty to remove that detail. Remove all document information clears every item, including the creator, the producer and both dates. Many PDFs also hold a second copy of this information in a separate block, which some readers prefer; it is removed whenever you save here, so readers show your details.
The pages themselves are not touched. Text in a detail must use Western European letters.
Private
The details are read and written inside your browser tab. Your file is never uploaded.
