Step by step
How to add a watermark to a photo
Step 1: Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP image on the box above, or select Choose file.
Step 2: Type the watermark text, then choose where it goes, how see-through it is and its colour.
Step 3: Select Add watermark, check the preview, then Download image.
Placement and look
Centre puts the text large across the middle; Diagonal runs it corner to corner. Corner places a smaller credit in the bottom right, the usual choice for photographers. Tiled repeats the text across the whole picture, which makes it much harder to crop out.
The text is sized to the image, so it looks the same on small and large photos. White suits most photos; a faint shadow keeps it readable on light areas. Choose black for very bright images. Opacity sets how see-through it is: 30 to 50 percent marks the photo without hiding it.
What a watermark does
A watermark credits you and discourages casual copying, but it does not stop determined reuse: a corner credit can be cropped, and editing tools can paint over text. Tiled watermarks are the hardest to remove.
The text can use any language your device can display, including Hindi, Chinese and emoji, up to 100 characters. The image keeps its format, and JPG and WebP photos are saved at a high quality.
Private
The watermark is added inside your browser tab. Your photo is never uploaded, and the original is not changed.
