Step by step
How to resize a PDF to A4 or another page size
Step 1: Drop a PDF on the box above, or select Choose file.
Step 2: Choose the paper size, the orientation and the margin, and whether small pages are enlarged.
Step 3: Select Resize pages, then Download PDF.
How pages are fitted
Each page is scaled so that all of it fits inside the sheet, minus the margin, and centred. Nothing is cropped and the proportions never change, so a page with a different shape from the sheet gets blank space on two sides. By default small pages are enlarged to fill the sheet; choose to only shrink large pages if you want small ones left at their size.
Orientation can follow each page, so portrait pages go on portrait sheets and landscape pages on landscape sheets, or you can force every sheet to one orientation.
What changes and what does not
The pages are placed as vector drawings, not turned into pictures, so text stays selectable and sharp at any zoom. What does not come across are links, form fields and comments, because those belong to the original pages. A page you cropped before keeps its cropped area.
To trim the margins first, use Crop PDF. To put several pages on one sheet, use N-up PDF.
Common uses
Scale a US Letter document for an A4 printer, or the other way round, bring scans of mixed sizes onto one page size before merging them, or shrink an oversized drawing to a sheet that fits your printer.
