UUID Generator
Generate one or many random UUID v4 identifiers in your browser. Your input stays in your browser.
- Free, no sign-up
- Text stays in your browser
- Local processing / no upload
Generate 1 to 1,000 random identifiers. Drafts stay in this page and are not saved.
Step by step
How to use UUID Generator
Step 1: Enter a whole-number batch size from 1 to 1,000 in Number of UUIDs.
Step 2: Select Generate UUIDs. The browser uses cryptographic randomness and produces version-four UUIDs, one per line.
Step 3: Copy or download the batch. Enforce uniqueness in your receiving database where necessary; UUIDs are identifiers rather than credentials.
Example to try
Request three UUIDs. The output contains three lines. Each has five hexadecimal groups of lengths 8-4-4-4-12, with 4 as the first character of the third group. Random values differ each run.
Generate random version-four identifiers
UUID v4 values contain random bits plus fixed version and variant bits. This generator obtains random bytes from the browser cryptographic random-number API and formats them as lowercase hexadecimal groups separated by hyphens. Each output line contains one identifier. Choose a count from 1 to 1,000 to create labels for test records, temporary references or systems that accept UUID v4 identifiers.
Use identifiers for their intended purpose
Random UUIDs are designed to make accidental collisions extremely unlikely, not to guarantee uniqueness across every system. A database should still enforce its own unique constraint when necessary. UUIDs do not contain an embedded creation timestamp or a meaningful sequence. They are not passwords, API secrets or authorization tokens; access control must be implemented separately by the application using them.
Output limits and local processing
Generating a second batch does not reuse the previous batch or depend on an account. The results stay in page memory until you clear, refresh or leave the page. Download the list if you need to keep it. Count validation rejects fractions, negative values and values outside the supported batch size instead of silently rounding or generating an unexpected number of identifiers.
Inputs and results are held only in this page's memory. Developer inputs accept up to 500,000 character units each. Oversized pastes are rejected while preserving the previous input. Generated output is limited to 5,000,000 character units. No sign-up is needed. Copy and download actions are explicit; the tool does not upload your drafts or save them for a later visit.
