Step by step

How to rotate a PDF

  1. Step 1: Drop a PDF on the box above, or select Choose file. Its page count appears straight away.

  2. Step 2: Choose the rotation, then type the pages to turn, for example 2, 4-6. Leave the pages empty to rotate every page.

  3. Step 3: Select Rotate PDF, then Download PDF to save the turned pages.

Sideways scans and mixed pages

Scanned documents often have a few pages the wrong way round, for example a landscape table in a portrait report. Type just those page numbers to turn them, and leave the rest alone. To turn the whole document, leave the pages box empty.

90° right turns pages clockwise, 90° left turns them anticlockwise, and 180° turns upside-down pages the right way up. The rotation adds to any rotation a page already has.

Nothing is re-compressed

Rotation is stored as a setting on each page, so the page content itself is not redrawn or compressed again. Text stays selectable and images keep their quality.

Because only that setting changes, the document information such as its title is kept.

Private

Your PDF is rotated inside your browser tab and is never uploaded. Password-protected PDFs need their protection removed first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I rotate only some pages?
Type their numbers in the pages box, for example 3, 7-9. Pages you do not list keep their current orientation.
Will rotating reduce the quality?
No. Rotation is stored as a page setting, so the text and images on the page are not redrawn or re-compressed.
Which way does 90° right turn the page?
Clockwise, like turning a sheet of paper a quarter turn to the right. Choose 90° left for anticlockwise.
Is the rotation permanent?
It is saved in the new PDF you download, so every PDF reader shows the pages the right way up. Your original file is not changed.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The pages are rotated inside your browser tab, on your device.
