How to fill out a PDF form
Step 1: Drop a PDF form on the box above, or select Choose file. Its fields appear, grouped by page.
Step 2: Type your answers, tick the boxes and pick the choices. Choose whether the answers stay editable.
Step 3: Select Save filled PDF, then Download PDF.
Real form fields
Many application forms, contracts and tax forms are PDFs with fill-in fields built in. This tool lists those fields as ordinary boxes, ticks and menus, in reading order with a preview of each page, and writes your answers back into the same fields. Fields that already hold an answer show it, so you can correct it.
Fields the form marks as locked are shown but cannot be changed, and push buttons and signature fields are skipped. To sign the finished form, open it in Sign PDF afterwards.
Editable or locked
Keep fields editable leaves the form as a form: you, or whoever receives it, can still change the answers. Lock answers (flatten) turns the answers into part of the page, so they print the same everywhere and can no longer be edited as fields.
Answers are written with Helvetica, which every PDF reader has. A form's fields hold Western European letters only; for other scripts, use Edit PDF to place your text on the page.
Forms without fields
A scanned or printed-to-PDF form has no fill-in fields, only lines on a page. In that case you are told so, and Edit PDF lets you type anywhere on the page instead. Some government forms are built with an older technology (XFA) that only Adobe Reader fills; they are treated as having no fields.
Private
Your form and your answers stay inside your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
